About Ferviddy

Ferviddy is a digital-first business publication covering the people, money, and ideas shaping Ghana's new economy. We publish daily briefings, deep-dive features, and sector intelligence for a readership of founders, investors, policymakers, and operators. Our coverage spans fintech, capital markets, regulation, energy, agriculture, and technology across Ghana and West Africa.

We are building the publication that Ghana's business community reads first.

The Role

We are looking for a business reporter who can make calls, attend events, get on-record quotes, and file clean copy on deadline. This is a reporting role, not an opinion or analysis role. You will be Ferviddy's primary source of original journalism — the person who talks to the people behind the stories we cover.

You will file 3-4 original reported stories daily across our Capital, Paper Trail, Ventures, and News sections. You will conduct interviews for our Operators profiles. You will attend press conferences, regulatory briefings, and stakeholder engagements.

You will build and maintain a contacts book that makes Ferviddy the publication that knows first.

What you’ll do

  • File 3-4 original reported stories daily, sourced through your own reporting, calls, and event attendance
  • Attend press conferences, MPC briefings, AGMs, stakeholder engagements, and industry events and sector forums
  • Conduct at least 2 long-form interviews per month — sit with founders, CEOs, and policymakers and shape the conversation into a published profile
  • Build and maintain active source relationships with communications officers at the Bank of Ghana, Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Stock Exchange, Securities and Exchange Commission, National Communications Authority, and at least 10 companies across fintech, banking, insurance, and technology
  • Get on-record quotes and exclusive details that no other outlet has. Your job is to make our magazine the first place a reader sees a name, a number, or a decision
  • Contribute original reporting to stories that our editorial intelligence pipeline has flagged — adding quotes, verification, and on-the-ground context to data-driven drafts
  • Work with the sub-editor to ensure every piece meets our editorial standards before publication
  • Pitch story ideas weekly based on what you are hearing from sources, seeing at events, and reading in regulatory filings

What you’ll bring

  • 2-5 years of experience in business, financial, or technology journalism at a recognised publication
  • A working contacts book. You already know press officers and can get a response within 24 hours
  • The ability to read a balance sheet, an auction result, a GDP release, or a regulatory directive and understand what it means without needing it explained
  • Clean, fast writing. You can file a 300-word news brief from a press conference in minutes and a 700-word analysis piece in a day
  • Comfort with numbers. You will work with data regularly. You do not need to be a data analyst, but you need to know when a number does not make sense
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: GH¢3,500 — 5,500/month gross depending on experience.
  • A publication with a clear editorial identity and a growing audience among Ghana's business decision-makers
